L E T T E R from Jac – How To Take Accountability For Your Emotions

It can be a really emotional time at the moment, can’t it? Family situations, work coming to a crunch period as everyone tries to wrap a million things, and I don’t know about you, but I have a lot of friends going through breakups. Working out what’s ours to be responsible for emotionally is vital.

I created this little graphic, so you have something easy to refer to, but these are really intended as a starting point, for you to work out your emotional boundaries and communication. Some ideas include:

  • Enquiring more into what they mean, to gather more information before a response is given.
Take pause. Quiet (not angry) silence is always an option.
  • Understanding ‘I’m feeling pretty raw right now and understand I might be misinterpreting this’.
  • It’s been a huge year and fatigue might have me not seeing this for what it is.
  • What is my contribution to this in reality, and what will it be moving forward also?

Journaling your feelings and thoughts is a really great way to get this from your subconscious out into the world via paper! It gives you something to begin to work with.
