L E T T E R from Jac – Imperfect Meditation

One of the key things I am literally hammering into our Integrated Meditation students is to not chase perfection. You cannot be a perfect meditator. You cannot achieve a perfect practice. For it comes from the heart. If we are chasing perfection we are using our thinking minds.

Meditation must not become another ‘should’ in our lives. Another thing we beat ourselves up about not doing the way we thought we should do. We need to walk the knifes edge between empathy and compassion, and also discipline and application. I’m always teaching that we learn so much from how we actually get in the chair, almost as much as from when we are in the actual chair meditating. We can use our Integrated Meditation practice to learn more deeply about ourselves on so many levels, dropping the anxieties and belief systems that hold us back from our own truths.

So instead of having anxiety about perfection, when we accept it’s actually impossible, we can have true freedom, which is being without anxiety about our imperfection. Beautiful.
