L E T T E R from Jac- The Passing Weather Storms

I know, yet six weeks into this year, there is much weariness. A fatigue, that became like a heavy coat last year, ill-fitting and musty is being worn past its time. Speaking with students in all corners of the globe, a similar pendulum of determination, positivity, and then despair and frustration. What a wild time we are alive within. I know it for myself, having seemingly carved out a small corner of stability in the world, we found in December and again now in February, that the sky began to change, and dark clouds of worry blew in with it.

We like the image of a beautiful sailing boat, gentle on the water, life pleasant and calm. Yet how else can we learn how to navigate the weather, if we don’t move through any storms? How bright the light after the storms passes. How fresh the air, how alive we feel. So, we must learn to not freak out about the lightening storms, or the wild seas tipping our boat. We learn how and when to bail the water out. We know when to pull into the little bays and rest. And, we know that more often than not, we get completely caught out, drenched, and trust we will eventually dry out. For it is all just weather.

With love,
